Stop The Spread Of Tooth Decay
What Are Dental Fillings?
Cavities are a symptom of tooth decay, which can cause sensitivity and pain for your child. To remedy this, one of our dedicated Villa Park pediatric dentists will remove the decayed part of the tooth and fill it in with a durable composite material, stopping decay in its tracks and returning strength to your little one’s tooth. A similar process can also be used to fix cracked or chipped teeth, or even teeth that have been worn down by grinding and clenching. Contact us today to learn more!
A Natural Looking Smile
The Benefits Of Composite Fillings
At Villa Park Pediatric Dentistry, we use composite fillings for all of our patients. Composite fillings are made of tooth-colored materials that create a strong bond with the natural tooth easily. These composite fillings often require less removal of the original tooth as well, resulting in a quicker, more comfortable experience for our little patients. Because they’re tooth colored, they look and feel just like a part of their natural smile, allowing them to keep their confidence up and motivate them to take care of the beautiful grin.
Safe, Quick, & Simple
What Is The Filling Process Like?
First, a local anesthetic will be administered to keep your child from feeling any pain during the procedure. Once they’re comfortable, we’ll get to work removing the decayed area of the tooth, being careful to ensure the patient is numb and relaxing throughout the treatment. Once the tooth is free of decay, we’ll clean the opening, flushing out any bacteria that remains.
Then, the composite, tooth-colored resin will be applied in layers, and hardened with a special UV light. This process will be repeated until the opening is filled. We’ll shape and trim the filling so it matches your child’s tooth perfectly before polishing the tooth to perfection. In no time at all, your child’s smile will be restored and they can get back to being a kid.

What Happens If My Child Doesn't Get A Filling?
If you’ve brought your child into Villa Park Pediatric Dentistry, and one of our doctors has recommended that they receive a filling, and they don’t get one, the consequences for their oral health could end up snowballing. Left untreated, cavities can become worse, and even lead to infection. If this is allowed to continue, the infected tooth may need a root canal, and eventual extraction. Getting a filling is a quick and easy fix that prevents your child from experiencing painful tooth infections, and can even save their teeth in the long run.
We do everything we can to ensure your child feels safe and comfortable when they walk through our doors. We take the time to explain our processes in a kid-friendly way, and we work hard to eliminate any dental anxiety they may have. At Villa Park Pediatric Dentistry, we believe that every child deserves quality dental care.
